450 size electric helicopters make ideal introductions to collective pitch helicopters. Being small, crash costs are kept to a minimum, and their small size allows them to be flown in parks and in large indoor spaces.

A typical 450 size helicopter takes 325mm blades, weighs in at 800-900g fully loaded, and runs off a 3S Lipo battery. A small number of 450-ish size machines (notably the Outrage G5 and Rave 3D) now take 350mm blades (and run a slightly lower head speed) for increased stability.
