Loss of tail rotor effectiveness

Loss of tail rotor effectiveness

From RC Helicopter Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Loss of anti-torque control due to a problem with the tail rotor, such as damaged blades, broken tail belt, or broken pitch control linkage. When hovering, this will result in a fast pirouette; in forward flight, the helicopter will weathervane and remain pointing approximately in the direction of travel.

The only recourse in the event of LTE is an autorotation, either immediately or, if in a hover, following a pirouetting climb and / or a transition into forward flight.
